Case Review: What a Pre-Grid EL Acceptance Caught at a Hillside PV Plant in the Philippines

ⓘ This article is currently published in Chinese. An English version is being prepared — read the Chinese original.

A field review of a real hillside ground-mount PV project in the Philippines, where the owner commissioned an EL acceptance test before grid connection. Modules had traveled a long cross-border logistics chain and were then carried up slope terrain by hand - two stages that routinely introduce microcracks no visual inspection can see. This article reviews the decisions behind the acceptance design: why the team combined string-level EL survey with handheld EL re-checks instead of testing module by module, how slope terrain changed equipment choices and crew movement, what categories of defects the acceptance actually caught (transport cracks, installation stress cracks, factory-stage soldering and gridline issues), and how the time-stamped EL record drew a clean responsibility line between module maker, logistics, and installer. It also covers the honest limits: when a full pre-grid EL acceptance is worth the mobilization for a hillside site, and when sampling is the more reasonable call.
